Understanding the SoulIn expounding on the makeup of the soul, Joe crews of Amazingfacts.org compares the soul, body and spirit to the makeup of a wooden box. If you have a set of wooden planks and a set of nails and combine the two components you get a wooden box. If you separate the nails and the planks what would happen to the box? The box is no more! It is only when you combine the two components that you wind up with a complete box:
A more modernized illustration is presented by Doug Batchelor of AmazingFacts.org. When you combine a computer box with a hard drive you wind up with a functioning Personal Computer (PC). If you separate the computer housing from the hard drive - well, the PC is no more.

The Four LawsIf the box (pc housing) is destroyed the PC ceases to function but you can get a new box. If the electricity is cut off the PC ceases to function but you can get a new power source. If the hard drive is destroyed & the data lost then the PC is dead and cannot be recovered. If the PC in its entirety is destroyed then the PC is dead and cannot be recovered.
The Four Laws
If the body is destroyed the Soul ceases to function but you can get a new body.

The Four Stages of LifeIs the normal death that everyone undergoes. At this stage your body dies, your breath ceases and your spirit returns to God - your soul ceases to exist. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
2) First Resurrection
Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. These individuals are the chosen few who rule with the Son for a thousand years. They are the "made men" or the "untouchables". Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
The return of the Son and the first resurrection, generally referred to as the 'Second Coming' or the 'rapture', leads into the thousand year rulership, often referred to as the 'millennium'. This is when the 'smart people' govern the earth.
-: What does it take to qualify?
1) Well, if you managed to spread the good news of God's kingdom throughout the entire earth in a very short space of time you'd certainly be a very strong candidate. Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: -: What are the perks?
1) You get to rule over the nations of the earth for a thousand years.
Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. -: Who are the candidates? At the end of the day it is the Son who decides on these saintly individuals.
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. -: Whom will you rule? As occurred at the time of the Flood, those who survive through the flood of fire of the Second Coming (a minimum of eight would actually suffice) will live on the earth. So some of the generation alive at the time of this event will survive into the 'Golden Age' making up the nations of the world.
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

With the Son reigning the nations and Satan locked away there is a thousand years of relative calm on earth. Revelation 20:1 ¶And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
The Last [two] Days, the age in which man is currently living, comes to a close and the Son of God re-emerges on the Third day - which is the 'Last Day' or 'Seventh Day' - the 'Sabbath Day'. With the Advent of the Seventh Day the earth is culled of the wicked, the 'smart people' take over ruler-ship over the earth in a Divine Monarchy and the meek inherit the resources of the earth. This period of a thousand years of calm is the period in which the earth gets to rest from its woes.
2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Luke 6:1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
2 And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. 3) Second Resurrection The rest of mankind who lived on earth before the 'Second Coming' occurs and failed to gain the 'First Resurrection' will by default obtain the 'Second Resurrection' when the thousand years of theocratic rule on earth eventually comes to a close and all who make up the 'rest of the dead' are brought back to life. Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Before this occurs though, the thousand years of theocratic rule - which may have passed you by - ends with the release of Satan when he puts the last generation of super kids living on the earth at that time to the test. Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. See yah! So if you lived 'outside of Christ' or failed to make the grade and totally missed the opportunity to gain the "free pass" offered to the redeemed at the 'First Resurrection', you still have an opportunity to obtain a "normal pass" - if you're judged worthy at the 'Second Resurrection'. All of the individuals who lived on the earth come to life to face judgment (except of course for the 'untouchables' who are alive and were ruling with the Son) to see if they are judged worthy according to the works they've done against the principles laid down in a set of books that are opened. There are thus a set of universal moral laws in existence that regulate the conduct of men and women and reflect the mind and character of God Himself. If you are judged worthy according to your works your name is added to the book of life and you have attained the resurrection of the just.
Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
Luke 11:32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
Luke 11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

If you also assist or do good to those who are 'in Christ' it further counts in your favor.
James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

If you feel that you are simply incapable of making the grade and gaining the resurrection of the just - there is yet one thing that you could possibly do to avoid ending up in the lake of fire: Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
If you have absolutely no interest in any of the above then you can do whatever it is you wish. As long as you keep just one thing in mind:

If you do suffer the Second Death then no retrieval company in the entire Universe will be able to bring you back. And your life will have effectively been an unpleasant interruption of nothingness. Psalms 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
