John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. Now like a defeated foe who, having lost the war, marches his prisoners behind the ever-diminishing battlefront-lines, the enemy maintains his hold on the captives. This is in no way of any benefit to the captives themselves. The ransom for their release has already been paid and merely needs to be collected.
